Recently, OW2, an international open source community headquartered in Europe, officially established the Quick App Initiatives (Quick App Initiatives), aiming to provide a platform for global developers to exchange and share quick application technologies. This interest group will gather international experts from multiple industries and fields to explore the application scenarios of fast application technologies in various vertical fields, and jointly promote the iterative and ecological development of fast application technologies.

Mr. Wang Xuemin, Vice President of Huawei’s European Research Institute, mentioned that the Quick App Initiatives (Quick App Initiatives) was established in the European open source community OW2 to promote the intercommunication and development of the MiniApps standard represented by Quick App. He looks forward to increasing expectations. Many developers join to create more innovative and fast applications that serve all walks of life, jointly build a new application ecosystem, and promote the development of Internet services in the new era.

At the same time, the Quick Application Interest Group will open its technical service capabilities to developers in the form of development guidance, practical cases, reference documents, development of open source tools and code templates, attracting terminal hardware manufacturers, content service providers, academic institutions and other individuals and enterprises. Or the organization will join in the construction of the fast application ecosystem to jointly discuss the innovative integration of fast application technology and multiple industries.

Mr. Cedric Thomas, CEO of the open source community OW2, also said: "We are very pleased to launch a fast application interest group with industry partners and look forward to the rapid development of the fast application ecosystem in our community."

The MiniApp model represented by fast apps will play an important role in the new era

Nowadays, all walks of life are embracing new business opportunities brought by the trend of digital transformation and launching innovative services, such as hospitals launching online registration and online consultation; airlines support seat selection in advance; merchants provide a wealth of online discounts; game manufacturers launch at any time Games that can be opened instantly anywhere, etc. MiniApp represented by fast application is a new lightweight mobile application based on Web technology, with the characteristics of "no installation, click-to-use, direct service", allowing users to be convenient anytime, anywhere regardless of the scene. Obtaining the required content and services is naturally suitable for such scenarios.

“The MiniApp model represented by fast apps plays an important role in the new era,” said Mr. Wang Xuemin, vice president of Huawei’s European Research Institute. “Users can easily find and use fast apps in various scenarios of mobile terminals such as Huawei. No need to install, one-click to open, you can enjoy the same experience and performance as native apps. Quick apps are based on native rendering and have basically the same application experience as traditional apps."

At the same time, fast apps also have the advantages of easy development, which can help developers quickly seize new opportunities in the new era. Mr. Pablo Coca, Director of Business Development and Operations of CTIC, a European research institution, said: “In innovative projects, rapid development and deployment is a decisive factor, and time is very tight. Fast applications can help overcome this difficulty.”

The fast application is developing rapidly in China, and the application prospects in Europe and other regions are broad

In China, MiniApp represented by fast apps has begun to take shape. According to statistics, about 10% of Internet traffic in 2020 will come from MiniApp. Kuaiapp has more than 1.2 billion online devices and more than 70% of its users are retained. Compared with last year, active users have steadily increased by 37%, and the number of active fast applications has steadily increased by more than 46%. Quick app has become a more convenient and efficient lightweight application choice in the 5G era with an innovative experience of "no installation, click-to-use".

In regions such as Europe, MiniApp is still in its early stages and has a very broad application prospect. Based on the quick application feature of "no installation, click-to-use, direct service", users can easily start games, shopping coupons, online seat selection, book hotels, obtain public transportation and health service information, etc., saving users' mobile phone space and The installation waiting time allows users to fully experience a better digital life.

Mr. Brian Meidell, CEO of European game company FRVR, believes: “The market opportunity for fast apps is huge.” At the same time, Mr. Ilker Aydin, CEO of European game company Famobi, also said: “The consumer experience has changed dramatically. Let us Work together to speed up the content production of fast apps and jointly bring new standards to the market."

Huawei actively opens up its technological capabilities and promotes the development of a global fast application ecosystem. Huawei Quick App IDE provides intelligent support for the entire process from development, construction, debugging, testing, release, etc., to achieve efficient development and operation across systems and terminals, to achieve one-point access and global full-scene distribution. At the same time, the Huawei account, Huawei's HMS core capabilities, such as in-app payment, positioning, and message notification, have continued to empower developers in terms of product capabilities, user experience, advertising monetization, scenario expansion, developer support, traffic support, and multi-terminal coverage.

As of the first quarter of 2021, the monthly activity of Huawei Quick Apps worldwide has increased by 150% year-on-year; the number of Huawei Quick Apps worldwide has increased by 260% year-on-year. In the future, Huawei will continue to work with the open source community OW2 to continue to promote the use of global fast apps in all walks of life, promote industrial development, and work with developers to create a better digital life for users.
