Modern Android Development
Modern Android Development, that is, " modern Android development ", the purpose is to help developers remove all obstacles that slow down the development speed, so that everyone can concentrate on creating the best experience.
One of the important content is to let everyone concentrate on writing functions and reduce template code through Jetpack. For the current updates of Jetpack in stable, Alpha and Beta channels, please visit official website for details.
Jetpack Compose is a modern toolkit for building native UI on Android. It has released a Beta version and plans to release a stable version in July. Please read official document to prepare for the 1.0 official version.
Android Studio Arctic Fox (2020.3.1) is now in the Beta version, with new features focused on three themes:
- Quick UI design
- New devices covering various screen sizes
- Improve developer productivity
For specific new and improved features, please go to official website for details.
There is another important pillar of Modern Android Development: Kotlin. Our recent survey results show that Kotlin is now the most common development language used by professional Android developers. More than 1.2 million apps in the Play Store use Kotlin, and the top 1,000 apps use Kotlin as high as 80%. We have prepared a set of tutorials for developing Android applications with Kotlin, which can be packaged and downloaded click here
Build applications for more screen sizes
We launched a unified platform jointly created with Samsung, combining the advantages of Wear and Tizen, and launched a new user experience. Your audience will be even larger, and the skills and tools used in mobile application development can be used to build applications on new devices. Many new APIs, such as Tile, are also prepared to help you build better Wear applications.
In terms of foldable devices, tablet devices, and large-screen devices, we have updated many UI components in the Jetpack and Material Design libraries to facilitate the adaptation of various screen sizes.
Please read " Wear Update List " and " Foldable Devices, Tablet Devices and Large Screen Devices Update List " for details.
