Introduction to On July 10th, Wang Siyu, author and community leader of CNCF Sandbox project OpenKruise, and Alibaba Cloud technical expert, will bring topic sharing at the special forum of GOTC Shanghai Station "Open Source Cloud Native Computing Era Forum".

From July 9 to 10, 2021, the GOTC Global Opensource Technology Conference (The Global Opensource Technology Conference) Shanghai station is about to kick off. The conference was jointly initiated by Open Source China and the Linux Software Foundation (The Linux Foundation). The world’s leading open source companies and top open source projects will appear together, covering cloud native, big data, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, blockchain, DevOps, open source Governance and many other technical fields bring the world's latest and purest open source technology to developers, and at the same time spread open source culture and ideas, and promote the construction and development of open source ecology.

On July 10th, Wang Siyu, author and community leader of CNCF Sandbox project OpenKruise and Alibaba Cloud technical expert, will bring topic sharing at the special forum of GOTC Shanghai Station "Open Source Cloud Native Computing Era Forum". OpenKruise is an open source cloud-native application automation extension kit developed by Alibaba. It provides a variety of rich automation capabilities around cloud-native application scenarios on top of the fully compatible standard Kubernetes. At present, OpenKruise has 2300+ stars and 50+ contributors on Github. The users who have registered for production use include Ali, Ant, Ctrip, Suning, OPPO, Youzan, Douyu TV, Shentong, Xiaohongshu, 25+ companies such as Lyft and Spectro Cloud.

In this forum, Wang Siyu will share which cloud-native trends observed in the community, and will introduce the latest developments in OpenKruise worth paying attention to? Let's see it first.

GOTC Lecturer Wang Siyu: Looking at the development trend of cloud-native application load from OpenKruise

Lecturer profile

Wang Siyu, OpenKruise author & principal, Alibaba Cloud technical expert, Kubernetes, OAM community contributor. He has long been engaged in the research and development of cloud native, container, scheduling and other fields; the core R&D member of Alibaba's million container scheduling system has many years of experience in supporting Alibaba's double eleven ultra-large container clusters.

Topic introduction

Cloud-native application loads are well-known from Kubernetes native workloads (Deployment, StatefulSet), but on the other hand, we also see that from small and medium-sized startups to large Internet companies, the more large-scale application scenarios these native The more workloads are unable to meet the requirements of complex business deployment. Therefore, many companies have self-developed custom workloads suitable for their own scenarios, but among them, the open source components that are truly mature in terms of generalization, comprehensiveness, stability, etc., are only open sourced by Alibaba Cloud and have become CNCF Sandbox. Project OpenKruise.

In this sharing, we will start with Kubernetes native workloads to introduce the responsibilities and implementation basis of cloud native application loads, and then analyze the real demands for application loads in super-large-scale business scenarios, and how OpenKruise meets these needs. And the following development trends under the open source ecosystem, including:

  1. The problems and challenges of cloud native application deployment.
  2. The basic ability of K8s native application load.
  3. How does OpenKruise meet the requirements of deployment and release in ultra-large-scale business scenarios?
  4. Take Alibaba application scenarios as an example to introduce the practice of using OpenKruise for application management.
  5. The future development trend and direction of the application load field under cloud native.
