I think The Apache Way is a way of living and working. A group of like-minded people manage the project and the community in a way that everyone agrees to achieve common goals.

ApacheCon is the official global series of conferences of the Apache Software Foundation (ASF). As a prestigious open source feast, ApacheCon has attracted much attention in the open source community and is also one of the well-known activities in the early days of the open source movement.
As early as 1998, before the establishment of ASF, ApacheCon had attracted participants at all levels to explore "tomorrow's technology" in more than 300 Apache projects and their different communities. Also in this session, developers who developed HTTPD services gathered together and decided to establish the Apache Software Foundation.
ApacheCon is held once a year, usually in Europe or North America. It is an excellent opportunity for Apache developers to communicate, discuss, and meet offline. It is also a rare occasion for sharing ideas and exciting ideas. Through hands-on practice, keynote speeches, actual case studies, training, hackathons, etc., showcase the latest development and emerging innovations of the Apache project.
This year, in order to better serve the fast-growing Apache users and contributors in the Asia-Pacific region, the ApacheCon Organizing Committee and the Apache Software Foundation are pleased to announce that the first ApacheCon online conference for the Asia-Pacific region will be held in August 2021. Held online from 6th to 8th.
In order to let everyone know more about open source and ApacheCon Asia, SegmentFault will interview some Track Chairs or conference lecturers to let you know the stories behind the preparations for the conference and the stories of these experts.
Today, what we bring to you is our interview with Apache ShardingSphere committer, the core developer of Apache ShardingSphere ElasticJob Wu Weijie.
The following is the content of SegmentFault’s interview with Wu Weijie:
About Wu
Hello everyone, I am Wu Weijie, Apache ShardingSphere committer, core developer of Apache ShardingSphere ElasticJob. He is currently a SphereEx middleware R&D engineer, mainly involved in the R&D of Apache ShardingSphere and ElasticJob.
Weijie’s first exposure to open source 1610bf6958fd5f
Last June, I submitted a PR (Pull Request) to the Apache project on GitHub for the first time. That time coincided with the restart of the ElasticJob project and became a sub-project of Apache ShardingSphere. Many newbie tasks were released in the community. I found it very interesting. Got involved. At the same time, I am also very grateful to my friend Hao Zhi for pulling me into the community exchange group, otherwise I might not be able to start my "open source journey".
My first PR was to remove some third-party dependencies in the project, and make small adjustments to the scripts and pages. At that time, my PR was merged, which made me feel the community's recognition of me, and also made me feel that there are still many interesting things in the open source community to participate in. Later, I continued to participate in the tasks in the community, and I became involved in open source projects. One of my spare time at the time. And now, participating in open source has become a part of my work .
When participating in open source and contributing to the Apache community, what are the personal and company gains?
For me personally, participating in the top Apache projects and learning excellent code are of great help to the improvement of professional ability. On the other hand, leaving my contribution in the Apache project is also a recognition of my professional ability. But the most important thing is that in the process of participating, I can recognize many like-minded people who have helped me a lot. Being able to join SphereEx and make progress with the big guys is one of my biggest gains.
For the company, SphereEx originated from Apache ShardingSphere, participating in the Apache community contribution is also indirectly or directly improving the company's products, and can maintain continuous innovation and accelerate the birth of more excellent products.
Weijie understands "The Apache Way"?
I think The Apache Way is a way of living and working. A group of like-minded people manage the project and the community in a way that everyone agrees to achieve common goals.
Weijie and ApacheCon Asia
This time I am in the middleware track. In this sharing, I will introduce you to the sub-project ElasticJob of Apache ShardingSphere, including the features, architecture and principles of ElasticJob, as well as the improvements of 3.0 compared to the historical version.
I hope everyone has a basic understanding of ElasticJob after listening to my sharing. When encountering task scheduling scenarios that require dynamic sharding and high availability, they can remember the capabilities provided by ElasticJob.
Join us in ApacheCon Asia!
If it doesn't come, it won't come, if it doesn't come, it won't come for nothing.
About Apache ShardingSphere ElasticJob
Apache ShardingSphere ElasticJob is a distributed scheduling solution for Internet ecology and massive tasks. It consists of two independent sub-projects ElasticJob-Lite and ElasticJob-Cloud. It uses flexible scheduling, resource management and control, and job management functions to create a distributed scheduling solution suitable for Internet scenarios, and provides a diversified job ecology through open architecture design. Each of its products uses a unified job API, and developers only need to develop it once and deploy at will.
Everyone is welcome to use, and you can participate in the discussion via email or GitHub issues.
