The latest development of Nervos and Cardano cross-chain bridge

On June 2nd, we and IOHK (Cardano Technology Development Company) announced the that connects Cardano and Nervos networks. This cross-chain bridge is Cardano's first cross-chain bridge, and it has the potential to become a multi-billion-dollar complete transaction portal, and further promotes Nervos and Cardano's common vision for blockchain interoperability.

One and a half months later, how is the cross-chain bridge between Nervos and Cardano progressing? What achievements have been made? In response to the issues raised by the community, the development team will share the latest progress of the cross-chain bridge with you.

Once the cross-chain bridge with Cardano is completed, users can interoperate with Nervos and Cardano's native tokens (CKB and ADA), and create their own tokens (user-defined tokens) on the two blockchains. In Nervos' Layer 1 and Layer 2, the packaged ADA can be used in the rapidly expanding DeFi application suite on the chain. In addition, the cross-chain bridge will also provide access services and functions for developers on both chains to expand their dApp and user base.

The cross-chain bridge that connects Cardano and Nervos networks is constructed by Mousebelt, a blockchain accelerator that provides comprehensive services. Mousebelt disclosed the following updates:

We have added the ability to support Cardano's lock and unlock process. Now, users can make cross-chain transfers from their accounts. For example, they can lock assets on Cardano and unlock the same assets on CKB and use them on the blockchain. They can also check the balance on the Cardano chain. We have also added integration test cases.

Once users lock their assets on Cardano, we transfer them to our main wallet (held by the main team), and then we mint the same amount of tokens on CKB. When users want to get their original tokens back on ADA, we will destroy the corresponding amount on CKB. Cardano's transaction structure has UTXO, and we use a password in the configuration. So it is the same as BTC's implementation on Force Bridge.

So far, the cross-chain bridge is progressing smoothly, and only a few more small implementations are needed to complete it. These small implementations of

• Build Cardano test docker image
• Complete the integration test of Cardano
• After all tests pass, infrastructure needs to be built
• Cardano's integration testing is still in progress
• Cardano configuration and Docker configuration are still in progress

The Mousebelt team stated:

We have completed the transaction monitoring test on the Cardano side, and now there is still the Nervos side. We will test it to see if it needs to be adjusted.

Nervos and Cardano share the same vision of building a truly interoperable blockchain ecosystem. The completion of this cross-chain bridge cooperation will mark an important milestone for Nervos, because through connection with other chains, Nervos has established a solution to support multi-chain applications, including Cardano.
