Recently, the "2021 China Internet Conference-Digital Governance Forum" organized by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology was successfully held at the Beijing National Convention Center. At the meeting, the Governance and Audit Department of the Institute of Cloud Computing and Big Data of China Academy of Information and Communications Technology released and interpreted the "Investigation Report on the Status of DevOps in China (2021)".

In order to further understand and grasp the current status and future development trends of DevOps in China, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology relies on the Cloud Computing Open Source Industry Alliance to jointly launch the "2021 China DevOps Status Survey" with more than 40 companies including Huawei Cloud DevCloud. .

Companies participating in this survey include the Internet, technology, telecommunications, finance, manufacturing, education, consulting and services, and retail industries, focusing on the current status of China's DevOps practice maturity, the status quo of DevOps transformation, the future development of DevOps, and corporate policies/qualifications A survey was conducted on the needs and other situations of the company, and a total of 1,862 valid questionnaires were retrieved.

Agile has become the mainstream R&D model

The survey results show that Agile has become the mainstream R&D model for software development, and more than half of the companies have learned or practiced Scrum or Kanban; 85.16% of companies have chosen continuous integration. However, only 30% of enterprises have a unified work item management system, and the ability to visualize change life cycle and full data analysis needs to be improved, which mainly reflects change management.

The survey results show that nearly 50% of companies have professional security teams, an increase of 10% compared to last year; more than 50% of companies try to practice DevSecOps; the continuous evolution of corporate automated security testing to full-process coverage can help companies find problems as soon as possible and avoid security risks.

The survey results show that 29.48% of enterprise project teams work hard and have no time for DevOps improvements, a year-on-year increase of 4.02%.

2. Lack of experts in related fields

29.05% of companies lacked experts with DevOps experience, resulting in slow progress and nowhere to start, which was flat year-on-year.

3. No cross-organizational and self-driven improvement measurement system has been

The survey results show that 15.82% of enterprises have defined measurement indicators at all stages of the entire development life cycle, but the measurement indicators are limited to within the department; 14.50% of enterprises have established cross-organizational measurement indicators to measure cross-domain comprehensive dimensions. Only 21.89% of companies did not define metrics.

Enterprises are paying more and more attention to the development and operation integration (DevOps) capability maturity assessment. The survey shows that 63.64% of respondents are interested in DevOps capability maturity assessment, an increase of nearly 10% compared to 2020.
