Alibaba Cloud Container Network File System CNFS 1.0 is released to experience container shared storage in the cloud-native era

Introduction to CNFS abstracts Alibaba Cloud’s file storage as a Kubernetes object (CRD) for independent management, including operation and maintenance operations such as creation, deletion, description, mounting, monitoring, and expansion, so that users can use files in containers. While storage brings convenience, it improves file storage performance and data security, and provides container-consistent declarative management.

About ACK CNFS

Traditional shared file systems have problems such as lack of precise control of capacity quotas, inability to recover accidentally deleted files, missing storage volume capacity performance and other monitoring indicators, no security encryption, and small file read and write delays. In response to these challenges, Alibaba Cloud Container Service ACK launched the container network file system CNFS to improve the performance and QoS control of file systems such as NAS, OSS, and CPFS.

CNFS abstracts Alibaba Cloud’s file storage as a Kubernetes object (CRD) for independent management, including operation and maintenance operations such as creation, deletion, description, mounting, monitoring, and expansion, so that users can enjoy the benefits of using file storage in containers. At the same time, it improves file storage performance and data security, and provides container-consistent declarative management.

We recommend that users use CNFS to manage NAS in ACK to get better performance and data protection.

[Experience] Create ACK CNFS cluster, get free NAS storage space

In order to allow more companies and developers to quickly experience the container shared storage performance brought by ACK CNFS, ACK CNFS is opening up NAS free storage space for a limited time.

1. Activity rules

• This event provides free storage space of 5GB (capacity NAS) or 1GB (performance NAS). Each region can provide up to two NAS file systems with free storage space, up to 10 per account
• Free space available for collection time: 2021-07-01～2022-07-01
• Validity period: 1 year

2. How to get

• Newly created ACK (managed version) cluster user: When creating an ACK cluster, a CNFS cluster is automatically created, and then a 5GB capacity NAS (or 1GB performance NAS) bound to the cluster will be obtained

• Existing ACK (Managed Edition) cluster users: You can create CNFS through the command line, and then you will get a 5GB capacity NAS (or 1GB performance NAS) bound to the cluster

3. Friendly reminder

• Only real-name verified accounts can enjoy the limited time offer
• The system will create a NAS based on the VPC where your current cluster is located. If the current region does not support capacity NAS, create a performance NAS (1GB)
• Files are not encrypted by default
