Bootstrap celebrates its 10th birthday! Count the important milestones on its open source road

On August 19, 2011, the first version of Bootstrap was officially released and announced that it was open sourced on GitHub. At that time, it was positioned as "a front-end toolkit for rapid web application development", a collection of common usages of CSS and HTML. And use some of the latest browser technology to provide developers with stylish layout, forms, buttons, tables, grids, navigation and other required components.

And now, Bootstrap is already one of the most widely used open source projects and front-end toolkits on the Internet.

Through ten years of persistence and hard work, Bootstrap has achieved what it is today, and the Bootstrap team has also compiled some incredible milestones in the past ten years:

• Bootstrap has more than 2.5 billion document views. More than 685,000 times a day.
• Since 2015, Bootstrap's npm downloads have been 394,000,000, of which there will be more than 131 million downloads in 2020 alone. In the past six years, the average number of downloads per day was 180,000.
• 50 million downloads on RubyGems
• 57 million downloads on NuGet
• The number of installations performed on Packagist is 7.5 million Packagist installations
• Used by more than 22% of websites across the entire network
• Used by 2.7 million projects on GitHub
• More than 21,100 commits have been made on GitHub, including nearly 35,000 issues and pull requests

The founder of Bootstrap laughed in his blog and claimed that he and his other founder, Jacob, were just nerds working for Twitter in early 2011. Jacob was an engineer engaged in internal tools, and he himself was a product designer in charge of advertising.

When the project he managed required his own internal tool application to manage Twitter advertising campaigns, he and Jacob had an intersection. After a few months, they began to collaborate more and more, and finally decided to release their project to the world.

The founders also said that despite the changes in time, they have not changed their original intentions and still contribute to open source, do what they like to do, contribute to open source, and have an impact on people's lives through their work. He believes that from the rewriting of main functions to the realization of new functions, from the ever-growing icon library to the mature market.
