Abstract: If you have not fully understood the two different paths of low code and zero code, I believe this article can help you establish a preliminary understanding.

This article is shared from Huawei Cloud Community " Faced with different business scenarios, should I choose zero code or low code? ", author: You Yue.

The difference between low code and zero code

We believe that low-code technology and zero-code technology are two completely different paths.

The users of zero code are mainly targeted at business personnel. But at the current stage, it is actually a business person with a certain amount of IT experience. Low-code users are mainly targeted at developers who focus on business logic implementation. (Note: It is currently difficult for a user of zero-code to be any business person. It is difficult for a person without IT experience to understand the logical relationships involved in "application construction". Although zero-code application construction does not require programming experience, let alone Reserve relevant knowledge, but still have a certain logical thinking ability.)

Zero code is mainly aimed at enterprise informatization issues, that is, to fill in the lack of informationization through extremely low cost; low code is aimed at corporate digitalization issues, that is, to support the sharing and innovation of corporate resources at low cost; while high code will mainly For building unique competitiveness in the professional field, high-cost investment is required.

The applicable business scenarios of zero-code technology are different from those of low-code, and it is mainly suitable for constructing simple applications for short-term use in sub-scenarios within the enterprise. Low-code technology is more suitable for building complex applications that are reused for a long time in a wide range of internal and external scenarios. Applications built with zero code are relatively more fragmented, and applications built with low code are relatively more packaged.

The value of zero code to enterprises at different stages

In fact, even at different stages of the enterprise, there are still many pain points in the construction of informatization, which is exactly the problem that zero code must solve.

1) Small and micro enterprises: start-up stage; no or very few IT personnel; lack of IT systems supporting operations; many business processes rely on offline form management. The pain points faced by such companies are: lack of many support systems that can match the current business, but the cost of purchasing commercial kits is low, and it is costly to find outsourcing personnel to develop them. Therefore, it is a good solution for the business personnel to construct the just right support system through zero code according to the current business.

2) Small and medium-sized enterprises: rapid development stage; there is an IT department but not a development function; the necessary IT systems have been built. The pain points faced by such enterprises are: insufficient IT department development capabilities, existing IT system construction speed can not keep up with business development, a large number of internal operation process applications are missing, team operations are not efficient enough, and the level of mobile office is low. Therefore, business personnel can directly construct various collaboration applications with zero code, which can solve current operational collaboration problems at a very low cost.

3) Large and medium enterprises: digital transformation stage; there is an IT department, a R&D team, and most of the supporting systems have been completed. The pain points of this type of enterprise are: there are still a large amount of data and processes to be managed through offline forms; the cost of communication between the business department and the IT department is high, and the IT system project establishment to completion cycle is long; the existing support system cannot flexibly respond to business changes, and the existing data is difficult Use quickly. Such enterprises can also use zero-code technology to allow business departments and IT departments to jointly participate in system construction to accelerate the elimination of informatization breakpoints in business departments.

Business Scenarios for Zero Code

Zero-code technology is only suitable for internal business scenarios of the enterprise, and is built by functional departments for their own use. Low-code technology is more suitable for building applications for others (including internal and external customers). The applicable business scenarios of zero code technology roughly include: operation support class, office information class, production auxiliary class and other simple and auxiliary scenes.

Moreover, in the same business scenario, under the requirements of different life cycles, different methods are used to build applications. For example, the registration management of team building activities, the application built by business personnel through zero code is only for the needs of this registration, and the application built by IT department personnel through low code can meet the registration needs of different departments at different times.

Zero-code technology and low-code technology are also very different in product design and technical requirements.

We believe the pursuit of product design point of view, ease of use (agile), flexibility (diversity) and reusability (governance) are "impossible triangle" between the three. If the same set of application construction mechanism is used by business personnel and developers at the same time, it is likely that the threshold of product usability cannot be lowered, and the flexibility cannot cover the business scenario. Therefore, we believe that zero code and low code are more suitable as different product capabilities to evolve separately.

Zero code and low code seem to be similar, but they are quite different. AppCube supports these two different operating platforms at the same time. Whether you prefer low code or zero code, you can find solutions to practical problems in AppCube. In AppCube, developers are provided with two different operating platforms, low-code and zero-code, to help developers face a wide range of different business scenarios.
