Use Android Studio on Apple chip devices? Don’t forget to use the Apple chip preview!

Thank you for your many feedbacks for building a better Android Studio through WeChat and other channels. In these feedbacks, we understand that Android Studio's support for Apple chips has always been highly anticipated. With Android Studio Arctic Fox (2020.3.1) stable version of officially released , we also brought preview support for hardware equipped with Apple chips (arm64). We have seen that many developers are already using this version, but there are still many developers still using the x86 version.

In order to help developers quickly download the appropriate Android Studio version, we emphasized the entry of the Apple chip version on the official download page.

It should be noted that Android Studio and Android emulators now include preliminary support for the core developer workflow in the Apple chip (arm64) hardware architecture (including the corresponding emulator system image). Currently it is not possible to provide support for all SDK and NDK command line tools. You may have to run Rosetta 2 on your computer to run some tools . Please read release notes for details.

We expect to provide a stable version with Apple chip support in the version after Arctic Fox, which is Bumblebee (currently in the Canary version).

You can now download the latest version Android Arctic Fox Studio, or download a preview version of Apple chip . If you want to keep the stable version of Android Studio, you can run both the stable version of Android Studio Arctic Fox and the Canary version at the same time.
