Windows 11 will be available soon and will be officially launched on October 5. Prior to this, Microsoft's latest version of Edge 93 has been released. This version supports two experimental features: a new menu display and scroll bar design to match the smooth style of Windows 11.
It is reported that Edge 93 version provides some small improvements and new features. For example, Microsoft has enabled support for similar Chrome tag groups, which are designed to help users find tags effectively and switch or manage tags more conveniently and efficiently.
Edge 93 also supports the "pick up where you left off" function of PDF documents, which helps users provide reading records, which is very user-friendly. At the same time, when the mouse hovers over the supported video, a new toolbar will pop up, the "Picture in Picture" mode will be activated, and the user can view the video in the PiP window.
Edge 93 version also has a new option update for the vertical tab, click to enter the edge://settings/appearance interface, you can choose to "hide the browser" title bar.
In addition to the above, Microsoft also introduced support for new experimental features: Windows 11 visual update and "overlay scroll bar" to upgrade the UI interface of Edge 93.
First of all, the new "Mica" effect, which is the exclusive design language of Windows 11. This special effect can automatically apply the desktop background color to the active window. Currently, Edge 93 already supports enabling Mica effects in the title bar (Mica effects only apply to the title bar of the browser), as shown in the following figure:
The "Mica" effect also provides Fluent Design partially transparent acrylic special effects for the Edge browser menu and the upper and lower menus. When you enable this special effect on Windows 11, the size of the menu font will be adjusted automatically, and the general font will look larger. In addition to font changes, this special effect can also center the buttons (including minimize, maximize, and close buttons).
Another highlight is the "overlay scroll bar". This small update is supported on both Windows 11 and Windows 10. The "overlay scroll bar" provides a more streamlined design for the default scroll bar of the Edge browser, looks thinner and more beautiful, and supports dark mode.
The most important thing is that the design of the "overlay scroll bar" function fits very well with the appearance of Windows 11 applications (such as settings and explorer).
To experience the above features, users need to upgrade to Edge 93 (stable version) or higher. After upgrading to the latest version, open the "Edge Flag" menu and enable the Windows 11 visual update flag.
To try the new scroll bar function of Edge 93, open the "Properties" tab of Edge and add the following code to the target field:
--enable-features=OverlayScrollbar,OverlayScrollbarWinStyle,OverlayScrollbarWinStyleAnimation
In the next few months, Microsoft is likely to introduce more visual updates for Windows 11 users, including bringing new small highlights to the Edge browser. These features may be turned on by default after the arrival of Windows 11. At that time, long-awaited users can pay attention.
