• The Pro version launched by ASM in May has expanded and enhanced Istio's underlying capabilities. It fully supports the Dubbo microservice framework and provides refined service management capabilities, such as full-link label routing and lossless service offline. The newly added rule controller can realize that the routing configuration only takes effect on Envoy nodes in the specified label range, effectively reducing the risk of routing rule configuration changes.

• Comprehensive integration of multiple service registries, including Nacos and Consul, in order to manage the microservices using these two registries, and realize the interoperability of multi-language services across registries. Among them, the performance of Nacos 2.0 has been improved by 10 times and can support high-performance, large-scale scenarios.
• ASM better supports the unified management of services on cross-regional multi-cluster and multi-cloud hybrid clouds. With the support of edge clusters, users can explore the scenarios of service grids in edge computing under 5G networks.
• Users can achieve zero-trust security without code modification, and can use the dynamic execution capabilities of OPA policies to simplify the management of multiple security policies. Optimize existing applications for modernization.

Ali Cloud Service Grid ASM serves as a managed service grid platform compatible with Istio for unified management of microservice application traffic. It can simplify service governance in an all-round way through functions such as flow control, grid observation, and communication security between services. From the perspective of downward integration with infrastructure, it provides unified capabilities for services running on heterogeneous computing infrastructure. Applicable to Kubernetes clusters, Serverless Kubernetes clusters, ECS virtual machines and self-built clusters. Including the recently supported ACK Edge edge cluster.

From the perspective of the grid's own capacity building, as a managed service grid product, ASM transforms and manages the core components of the control plane, and is responsible for the lifecycle management of the entire control plane and data plane components. In terms of product capabilities, ASM has enhanced Mesh CA and security audits to enhance the security of grid instances. It is also continuously enriching grid diagnostic and analysis rules. Users can self-help version, service ports, service associations, tags, and rules. Conflicts and other possible problem points are investigated, and risks are exposed in advance.

In addition, ASM also integrates and expands the community's open source component capabilities, including OPA security engine support in terms of security, SPIFFE/SPIRE support, EnvoyFilter and WASM extension support, etc. At the same time, it optimizes and integrates multiple product services of Alibaba Cloud. Including observable products such as link tracking, application real-time monitoring, log service, etc., application of the current limiting function of high-availability services, and multi-language scenario-based functions can be provided through MSE microservice management.

According to statistics, the ASM service grid of Alibaba Cloud helps companies control server resource costs to a large extent, shortens the implementation of service network technology from months to weeks, improves the efficiency of update iterations by 70%, and reduces the cost of abnormal troubleshooting by 80%. .
