At the same time, we pay attention to the daily work of developers and discuss the daily lives of developers; we focus on open source and encourage developers to actively embrace a colorful life other than open source . These will be shown one by one in the "The Data Way" program.

Everyone's understanding of open source is step by step from the simpler to the deeper. Everyone has gone through the stage of Xiaobai, and also has the experience of admiring the idea of open source and eager to join the open source community. However, in the eyes of senior open source practitioners, open source is not so big, it is a process of a group of people with a common goal together, based on some open technology to collaborate, and finally achieve a certain thing.
This week, the SphereEx podcast series [The Data Way Vol.4] continues to be updated. This program is run by ALC Beijing to comprehensively interpret the process and mental journey of a newcomer joining the open source community. In this issue, from the perspective of Mr. Jiang Ning, a member of the Apache Software Foundation, the incubator mentor of the Apache Software Foundation, and the initiator of ALC Beijing, with two fledgling open source community volunteers, a comprehensive interpretation of a Xiaobai’s mental journey into the open source community.

In Jiang Ning's view, from unknown to panic, to present pride. The transformation from work to community dedication is more of a change in mentality.
When the code is published on the Internet for the first time, and the first time you realize that your code will be noticed by others, you will unconsciously feel the height of the open source threshold, because each of us wants to maximize ourselves. On the bright side, open source is the same. Because we want to show it, our requirements for ourselves will also increase, forcing us to improve the elegance of our own code, making it easier for others to read and understand.
The other is the sense of responsibility. When you realize that your code is being used by more and more people, in a certain corner of the world. Your code is helping a certain team to improve their work efficiency, thinking that you can leave the world. When something happens, a sense of responsibility emerges spontaneously in my heart.
In fact, in the final analysis, open source is a process in which participants share their own experiences, but this process is preserved in the form of code.
is open source, and "must be thick".
Many students want to join the open source community, but worry about their lack of ability, so they often stop on the eve of joining the community. However, in Jiang Ning's view, these are human nature. Learning to overcome one's emotions and participate in open source in a cheeky state is a very important talent.
For many people, showing off their own things in front of others is a relatively embarrassing thing, especially when there is a high probability that you will receive accusations from others for the problems that you have exposed. There will be retreats in China, after all, everyone likes to be praised. But from another perspective, since you have published the code on the Internet, these things cannot be erased. Just like celebrities, everyone has very young photos and memories in the past.
Therefore, we must learn to "despise" ourselves. You know, although the Internet has memories, it is also forgetful. Also believe that in the open source field, no one will pay attention to a fledgling developer, because everyone comes from this stage. And, compared to " more critical is that you will get more feedback, and you will get more room for improvement . Because in the development process of the open source community, the essence is the process of , so for newcomers, the 16141bd2b354f7 open source community will have a natural sense of friendliness . Sometimes it is not a good thing to worry too much. Taking the first step is more important than thinking thousands of times in your mind.
Integrating the above together will form an open source ecosystem. What we have to do is to create better software in the open source ecosystem. And this process is inseparable from the continuous influx of fresh blood. If you still have some doubts about the open source community, and are still entangled in whether to take the last step, you are welcome to listen to this issue of [The Data Way], I believe it can bring you some new thinking.
