W3Techs recently released a statistical report that shows the historical trends in the use of Web server-side programming languages since January 2010.
According to the report, PHP still has a very high proportion of programming languages on the Web server side, accounting for 78.8%; ASP.NET ranked second, accounting for 8.3%.
Looking at the chart, we can see that PHP has been the most used web server programming language since 2010. In 2010, its usage rate was 72.5%. Since then, its usage rate has risen to 80.6% in 2015. After 2015, Its utilization rate began to fluctuate slightly, but it has remained at around 79%.
Except for PHP, only one server-side programming language once accounted for more than 10%. It was ASP.NET. Its peak share was 24.4% in 2010. Since then, its share has been declining, and its current share is 8.3%.

Contrary to ASP.NET, September's W3Techs data shows that Ruby, which ranks third, has a usage rate that has been rising in the past 10 years, from 0.5% 10 years ago to 5.3% now.
Among the top ten Web programming languages, there has been a slight fluctuation but basically remained unchanged are Java in fourth place, static files in seventh place, and Erlang in eleventh place.
Among them, the proportion of Java has remained at about 4%, static files at about 1.8%, and Erlang at 0.1%.
