Since the release of HarmonyOS 2, the Hongmeng ecosystem has continued to grow, and the scale of HarmonyOS developers has also increased. As a new force among them, the student developer group has become a beautiful landscape in the HarmonyOS developer ecosystem, and many outstanding representatives have emerged.

Bian Shikun is one of them. He is currently studying mechanical and electronic engineering at Hebei University of Science and Technology. At this year's HarmonyOS Developer Innovation Competition, he and his team developed the work "Not Just a Refrigerator" and finally won the Innovation Technology Award. As a student of related majors, Bian Shikun has been paying attention to the development of HarmonyOS since its release, and wants to participate in the development of related applications. In his view, this year's HarmonyOS Developer Innovation Competition is a very good opportunity, "So I did not hesitate to sign up for this competition with team members, and "More than a Refrigerator" is our team's entry."

The creative inspiration of "Not Just a Refrigerator" came from Bian Shikun's daily observations. He found that although the functions of smart refrigerators on the market are abundant enough, the consideration of user usage scenarios is still insufficient. For example, when a user uses the interconnection function of a refrigerator, it is often necessary to download the corresponding APP and perform various complicated network distribution operations to achieve this, which leads to an unsatisfactory user experience.

"HarmonyOS can perfectly solve these pain points. Its distributed technology enables efficient and simple connections between different devices, and allows the same piece of data to be seamlessly and almost zero-delayed by different terminals, which is very suitable for cross-device communication. Interconnection and communication between the two. Therefore, based on the HarmonyOS distributed technology, we developed the product "More than a Refrigerator"." Bian Shikun said.

At present, "More than a Refrigerator" has basically completed the construction of the software application framework. In the future, the team will start to build the hardware structure and back-end services. "We plan to embed a module equipped with a HiSilicon HI 3516 chip development board in the refrigerator. It can automatically collect food information in the refrigerator, and it can be bound by just touching it with a mobile phone equipped with HarmonyOS. After binding the refrigerator, we You can check the food information in the refrigerator at any time through the mobile phone, and you can also intelligently monitor the time when the food is put in and judge the shelf life to avoid unnecessary waste." Bian Shikun said.

"In addition to the basic reminder function, we are also considering linking with smart watches and body fat scales to provide users with healthy dietary recommendations to ensure a healthy diet for users and become the most intimate diet app for users." Bian Shikun added, " In addition, our products can also remind users to replenish common ingredients that are missing in the refrigerator in time, and cooperate with merchants to provide one-click ordering functions, and no longer need to go out to buy by themselves. The commercial value contained in this is very considerable."

During the development of the "More than Refrigerator" APP, the team was deeply impressed by the extremely high development efficiency of HarmonyOS. “Because our team members are distributed in all corners of the country, and most of the college students are in school, the usual schoolwork and work are relatively busy. Some discussions and joint adjustments can only be completed online in their leisure time, resulting in relatively low work efficiency.” Bian Shikunti "However, the features of HarmonyOS's one-time development, multi-terminal deployment, and distributed capabilities made our development more effective. In the end, we successfully completed the project on time."

Although "More than a Refrigerator" has achieved good results, Bian Shikun is not satisfied with it. In the future, he also plans to use HarmonyOS to develop a tool software called "Shikun Weiyu" education aid type to continue to enrich the application ecology of HarmonyOS. "As a student at school, I will also learn HarmonyOS related development knowledge in my spare time. To lay a good foundation for future career planning, I also hope that more student developers will join HarmonyOS application development to create infinite possibilities together "Bian Shikun said.

As a developer of Harmony Ecosystem, Bian Shikun has always been concerned about the future development of HarmonyOS. For the upcoming Huawei Developer Conference 2021 (Together) to be held from October 22nd to 24th, he made no secret of his inner expectations: "I hope this year’s conference We can introduce more new technologies, and bring more experience courses and practical case sharing for us beginners, so that us student developers can make more and better HarmonyOS applications."
