At the KubeCon China conference held by CNCF Cloud Native Foundation on December 9, 2021, the Tencent Cloud Container TKE team released the Kstone etcd governance platform open source project.

Kstone based cloud-native one-stop etcd governance project initiated by the Tencent Cloud Container TKE team. This project is derived from Tencent's internal large-scale etcd cluster governance and best practices, and it realizes the visual management and operation and maintenance of etcd clusters in various business scenarios, which greatly simplifies the complexity of etcd operation and maintenance in various scenarios , Will help you discover various potential etcd cluster hidden dangers in time, significantly improve the stability and data security of K8s and etcd clusters, and help your business run more stably and faster.

Kstone architecture and features

As a general etcd governance open source project, the Kstone project has many features:

• Cluster Management : Kstone not only supports associating existing clusters, but also has a built-in advanced version of kstone-etcd-operator, which can help you deploy etcd clusters on K8s clusters with high reliability. Therefore, whether you are the existing Kubernetes etcd cluster management requirements, or you want to create a new etcd cluster for the registration center, APISIX gateway, configuration storage and other business scenarios, kstone can achieve etcd cluster management in the above various scenarios.
• cluster inspection : The Kstone project accumulates Tencent’s internal large-scale etcd cluster management experience , provides a wealth of cluster inspection strategies, such as data consistency, number of resource objects, health, hot key, db full, etc. , Will help you find hidden dangers in time and improve the stability of etcd cluster.
• data backup : Kstone provides minute-level etcd data backup capabilities, and supports data backup to object storage such as Tencent Cloud COS. At the same time, we also support the creation of Learner through kstone-etcd-operator to achieve cross-city hot backup of data.
• cluster monitoring : Kstone supports cluster association and automatic monitoring when it is created. It has built-in rich grafana metrics view, which will help you improve the efficiency of locating problems.
• Data Migration : Kstone will provide large-scale etcd cluster data automatic migration capabilities and support multiple migration algorithms (etcd v2 to v3, etcd v3 to v3, cold migration, hot migration, etc.). Automated migration capabilities will help you greatly improve cluster stability.
• Intelligent diagnosis : Kstone will provide etcd cluster diagnosis and diagnosis function, analyze various hidden dangers of the cluster for you, and output etcd expert-level optimization suggestions.
