2021 is still a year full of challenges and uncertainties, but developers have turned the pressure into motivation to create a variety of practical and interesting applications and services to inspire us. These apps help more than 2.5 billion Android device users learn, communicate, relax, exercise, and have fun. Meanwhile, developers with more than $1 million in monthly revenue or 10 million monthly active users on Google Play grew 30 percent this year.

In the first Notes from Google Play , we applaud the creativity and resilience of developers. Mohammed Kamara is one of the qualities that developers have shown that has deeply moved and inspired me and my team. Thank you Mo for turning personal emotions into power, delivering affordable, customized healthcare through an app, and creating a better world for women of color. This focus on developers and their successful careers has led to a number of influential developments for Google Play in 2021, including the evolution of business models and the emergence of new product features and tools. In Google Play, we focus on two key objectives: help developers build and develop sustainable global business , and optimize Android and Play platform features, tools and ecosystem, allowing you to build innovative applications and games.

Support developers' business

As the mobile industry matures, developers create applications business generated a lot of different needs, to this end, we launched a multiple plans to provide support. For example, we announced the Play Media Experience program to encourage video, audio and book developers to build better experiences across devices, while enabling apps for writers and musicians with up to 10% off service fees . A few months ago, we announced a new pricing model, to support the development of a subscription business model, so that lower fees benefit all subscription application developers. It's with great excitement that I share the news that 99% of developers worldwide will now receive 15% or less of service rates thanks to the innovative changes we've introduced this year. Thank you for your insightful feedback as we develop these plans, and for your solidarity with the new billing model as it rolls out.

We also continue to invest in programs to help developers reach, retain, and re-engage users.

We're committed to helping developers turn ideas into great apps, with tools and guidelines to help ensure your apps are high-quality. We recommend that you focus on the following three key features/guidelines:

• App Quality Guidelines and Best Practices helps developers build and test apps for a variety of device types, while Android Game Development Kit (AGDK) can be used to build higher quality games.

Trust and security are the cornerstones of sustainable business success and key factors affecting user loyalty. Over the last year, we continued to invest in platform features and policies that help developers build more secure apps and increase user trust. We've also listened to your feedback and launched learning tools and resources to help developers get an early look at new features and policies. Key highlights include:

• Earlier this year, we shared details about the upcoming data security section in the Google Play Store, which will give users insight into what types of data apps collect, store, and how they use it. We provide a way for developers to demonstrate privacy and security policies , not only to build user trust, but also to help users make informed decisions when installing and using apps.
• To help developers protect their business from being compromised and their users protected from attack, we have introduced the Play Integrity API , which allows you to determine if you are interacting with a genuine app binary, installed via Google Play, and Runs on genuine Android devices powered by Google Play services.
• For help developers build safer and more trusted applications , we will regularly launch Google Play policy update reminders and key interpretations ( 2021 fourth quarter introduction review ), as well as introduce new Google Play management center function, you are welcome to continue to pay attention to us.

The most exciting thing is finding and nurturing future talented developers and building local ecosystems around the world that meet local needs. Earlier this year, we announced the first $ 1 million annual income of all developers reduced by 15% service charge , to continue to promote innovation on Android / Play platform.

We are honored to see industry leaders, partners, industry and government leaders share our focus on this work. Many of us senior developers invested personal time and effort by Indie Games Accelerator to guide the program, assisted and independent game development. This year, Google China also launched first entrepreneurship training camp project, , which focuses on Chinese start-up companies and teams that go overseas including mobile application and game development, and provides all-round support in open source technology, market, strategy, and team building.
