On February 8, local time, Apple pushed the iOS / iPadOS 15.4 Developer Preview Beta 2 update to iPhone and iPad users. Some of the new highlights below are worth checking out.

iPhone Click to

Apple has added a "tap to pay on iPhone" feature designed to allow NFC-compatible iPhones to accept payments via Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets without requiring additional hardware.

Currently only supports use in the United States, but requires third-party suppliers to add support, so it cannot be used normally.

Face ID with mask support

When a user unlocks an iPhone with the new mask-wearing Face ID, they may be prompted to "look down" to unlock the device. Because the iPhone requires eye contact for the mask unlock feature to work, this prompt also pops up when the user holds the iPhone below eye level.

Dedicated WiFi network support

Apple is adding support for dedicated WiFi networks on HomePod, allowing them to use WiFi with a web portal or extra sign-up steps.

Other new features

iOS 15.4 also introduces Universal Control, which allows multiple Macs and iPads to be controlled with a single mouse and keyboard when paired with a Mac running macOS Monterey 12.3. Added new emoji and tweaked several other features.

Additionally, Apple may be planning to roll out support for digital IDs and driver's licenses in iOS 15.4.
