In October 2021, we released the final unit of the " Basics of Android App Building with Kotlin " course, our free self-paced programming course dedicated to helping people with no programming experience develop and build Android apps. In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of programming and the basics of the Kotlin programming language.
In response to feedback from educators and students, we've been iterating on course materials, adding new modules so you can apply what you've learned to new projects and prepare you for more advanced learning.
Lay a solid foundation
With these updates, the "Basics of Building Android Apps with Kotlin" course now covers the key topics covered in the "Android Kotlin Fundamentals" course, so we're canceling the "Android Kotlin Fundamentals" course. We encourage students who have a certain foundation to learn the basics and skip the familiar part to take the test directly. Focusing on the basics can help some intermediate and advanced learners who miss key concepts get something out of this topic. This also allows our team to ensure that courses are always presented with the latest learning content. In addition to the course content, we will continue to provide codelabs, code samples, documentation and video content to help learners of different foundations.
Future plan
Our team is hard at work preparing for the next course that will help developers learn how to write Android apps using Jetpack Compose. We look forward to teaching Android the modern toolkit for building native interfaces as it simplifies and accelerates Android interface development.
current task
By taking the current course, you can learn the fundamentals of app development, and it's a starting point for you to explore existing Jetpack Compose learning programs , or move on to the upcoming Android Fundamentals and Compose courses. As you continue to explore the world of Android development, you'll have a solid foundation for building apps. We plan to have both versions of Android basics coexist, and you can choose to learn to build Android apps using either interface kit.
Maybe you've never built an app before and want to learn how to do it, or maybe you just want to review some of our latest best practices, you're welcome to take a look at the "Basics of Android Apps with Kotlin " course. You are also welcome to continue to pay attention to the "Android Developer" WeChat public account for more latest content.
