According to Microsoft's official documentation on the Windows 11 Health Dashboard, if users do not import data into Microsoft Edge before upgrading to Windows 11, they may lose access to information and data saved in IE11.

The main ones affected are devices that use IE11 as the primary browser or have IE11 set as the default browser.

Note: If you have imported information and data from IE11 into Microsoft Edge in Windows 10 before upgrading to Windows 11, you should not be affected by this issue.

To protect users' upgrade experience, Microsoft said it will apply compatibility controls to devices affected by this issue to prevent them from upgrading to Windows 11. Additionally, efforts are underway to fix the issue, and an upcoming patch will allow users to restore inaccessible data.

Previously, Microsoft announced in May last year that they planned to officially stop support for the IE browser on June 15, 2022. Users of the original IE browser can continue to browse in Edge's IE mode, which will be supported at least until 2029. year. A few days ago, Microsoft said some key improvements for IE mode in Edge: including restoring IE COM object calls and implementing two-way cookie sharing.
