On April 5, Mozilla officially released Firefox 99.0 for Windows, Mac, and Linux, a minor update.
Major updates
new function
- Allow the user to toggle the narrative in reading mode using the keyboard shortcut "n"
- Added support for searching in PDF browsers (with or without umlauts)
- Enhanced Linux Sandbox: Processes exposed to web content no longer have access to the X Window System (X11)
- Credit card autofill now supported in Germany and France
- Web MIDI API is supported on Windows, macOS and Linux. The current implementation has some limitations like lack of hotplug detection, but should work with most existing websites. To enable the API on a website, an additional add-on is required.
High-risk bug fixes
CVE-2022-28289: Fixed memory safety bug in Firefox 99 and Firefox ESR 91.8
CVE-2022-1097: Use after release in NSSToken object
CVE-2022-28281: Write out of scope due to unexpected WebAuthN extension
Issues resolved
Gallery mode in the Zoom web client is now accessible in Firefox 99.
Video display does not always work for breakout rooms in gallery mode. In older versions, when a user of the Zoom web client entered a breakout room, their own view and the views of other participants might not appear.
Now users can resolve issues by leaving the breakout room and re-entering after upgrading their browser.
Additionally, Mozilla is expected to release version 100 of Firefox on May 3.
