Best Practices | Use Excel to create applications with low code

This article mainly explains how to use Excel files to quickly create applications.

Step 1: Create an app using an Excel file

In the Create Application Portal , click the application creation card created from Excel , as shown in the following figure:

Step 2: Choose how the app is created

At present, Weida has provided three ways to create Excel applications, namely the built-in Excel template of Weida, the local Excel upload and the Excel file of personal Tencent document. The following will explain how to use these three methods to create Excel applications.

Create with template

1. Select the template type (take the student information registration form template as an example), and then click Next .

2. Set the field name, field type and other parameters of the header in the template, and click Next after confirming that it is correct.

3. After filling in the application name , click Create Application to complete the application creation, and then the page will jump to the editor page.

Upload a local Excel file to create

It supports uploading local Excel files that conform to the format specification, or you can download the sample Excel template, modify the data on the basis of the sample template, and upload it:

Excel file format requirements:

• The header field name supports both Chinese and English. English starts with a letter and avoids the use of special characters.

  2. The file format only supports csv/xls/xlsx format, and the size does not exceed 2MB.
  3. You need to ensure that there are no merged cells in the Excel sheet. For details, you can click the sample template above to download the reference.

1. Create applications by authorizing Tencent Docs account to Weida, reading and parsing Excel files under Tencent Docs.

2. After completing the authorization of Tencent Documents, select the corresponding Excel file, as shown in the following figure:

3. Confirmation and field editing of the parsing result of the Excel file.

Since the two-way synchronization mechanism of Tencent documents is currently being supported, the data modification after the application is released and running is only stored in the data source of WeChat, and will not be synchronized to Tencent documents.

Step 3: Generate Data Model Application

After the creation is completed using the above method, the corresponding data model application can be generated in the microstack.
