Recently, the "2021 Global Digital Talent Development Report" jointly released by the Internet Development and Governance Research Center (CIDG) of Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management and LinkedIn (LinkedIn) China has attracted industry attention.
The sample selected for this report comes from more than 48 million talents and 15 million digital talents in 31 cities/regions around the world, and draws conclusions through a multi-dimensional comparative study of the development and changing trends of global digital talents.
The report concludes that from 2020 to 2021, the global digital talent will still accelerate the flow of non-ICT industries (22 traditional industries such as finance, manufacturing, and consumer goods). Among them, China leads the world in the penetration rate of digital talents in the manufacturing and consumer goods industries.

The data of the "2021 Global Digital Talent Development Report" shows that in terms of the overall industry distribution of digital talents in 2020, the proportion of non-ICT industries is higher than that of ICT industries (such as software and IT services, computer networks and hardware), and the cities (regions) of this talent flow direction data is increasing year by year.
From the overall global situation, the Asia-Pacific region is relatively leading in the proportion of digital talents in the manufacturing, financial and consumer goods industries. Among them, Chinese cities are leading in the penetration rate of digital talents in the manufacturing and consumer goods industries, with Suzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Nanjing entering the top 5 in the global manufacturing list.
Technological finance is increasingly attractive to digital talents
The report also shows that "in 2020, the proportion of digital talents in the computer network and hardware industries in major cities around the world will decline." In contrast, the proportion of digital talents in the financial industry driven by digital technology in major cities around the world is the same as that of the previous year. Compared to most, it is on an increasing trend.
The penetration rate of disruptive digital skills: the highest in Beijing and Shanghai in China
At the same time, the report also focuses on the skill set of digital talents and their changing trends.
The report shows that in terms of the relative penetration rate of the “Top 10 Representative Disruptive Digital Skills” in major global cities in 2020, the disruptive skills penetration in the San Francisco Bay Area of the United States and Bangalore of India (in areas such as materials science and AI) Highest.
The talent advantages of "disruptive skills penetration" in key cities in China and other countries are ranked in the second "echelon": among them, Beijing has advantages in the fields of AI, development tools and data science, while Shanghai has advantages in materials science, nanotechnology and data science. The AI skills field is developing rapidly, with Shenzhen seeing particularly significant penetration growth in genetic engineering, robotics, aerospace engineering and nanotechnology.
