At Google I/O , we gave developers a glimpse of what's new so far. This includes the second beta version of Android 13 we released today for everyone to test and submit feedback. What drives our beta program is our openness and our solid partnership with the community (that is, you) to help make Android a better platform for everyone. We would like to thank you all for the feedback so far!
Android 13 continues to focus on our core themes : privacy and security, and developer productivity. We've added a new permission to send notifications, a photo picker for privacy, and improved permissions when pairing with nearby devices and accessing media files. Language settings for individual apps are now easier, your app icons can match the user-selected theme color, and this version supports modern standards such as HDR video, Bluetooth Low Energy Audio (LE Audio), and audio over USB Connect MIDI 2.0 hardware. We're also continuing to work on making Android a better OS on tablets and big-screen devices, giving you better tools to help you reach the 270 million active big-screen Android devices. You can read more about Android 13 in this blog post of ours.
Whether you want to experience Android 13 features, test apps, or submit feedback , you can start with this Beta 2. Beta 2 and subsequent updates are available OTA by simply enrolling in the beta with a supported Pixel device . If you've previously installed a preview or beta version of Android 13, you'll automatically get the beta update.
You can also experience Android 13 Beta on select models of phones, tablets, and foldables from our partners who have been committed to delivering great service from day one, including ASUS, HMD ( Nokia phones), Lenovo, OnePlus, OPPO, realme, Sharp, TECNO, vivo, Xiaomi and ZTE.
You can check out the full list of partners on our official website , as well as a link to their website for details on supported devices and beta versions. Each partner offers sign-up and support features, as well as beta updates directly to you.
With the release of Beta 2, we are one step closer to the platform stability milestone of June 2022, when we will get the final version of the Android 13 SDK and NDK API, and the system behavior for apps will be finalized. Please stay tuned, and if you want to learn more about the release schedule and how to get your app ready for Android 13, visit the Android 13 developer site .
