The new UI preview version of JetBrains IDE is here, to be a concise and powerful IDE

On May 23, JetBrains published a blog post, revealing that they are implementing a new set of interfaces.

They believe that current user interface trends in the industry have evolved, with many new users finding the JetBrains IDE's interface too clunky and outdated. So, the team made the bold decision to redesign the look and feel of IntelliJ IDEA and related IDEs with a fresh eye.

The core goal of this redesign is to reduce visual complexity, provide easy access to basic functions, and gradually expand complex functions as needed, which is currently what the JetBrains team believes to be a clean, modern and powerful look and feel.

According to the description in the official blog, the main changes in the new UI include the following four aspects:

• Simplified main toolbar: use new VCS, Project and Run widgets
• New tool window layout
• New light and dark themes
• brand new icon

The preview given at the beginning of the article is still an obvious initial reflection of this core design concept. Compared with the current IDEA, the overall interface is much simpler and cleaner. So how will the powerful functions that are gradually expanded according to needs be realized? Maybe you have to actually use it to experience it.
