At Google, our work in the automotive space is guided by our vision of creating a safe, seamless connected experience. It would be impossible to do this without a developer like you involved. We're excited to share some of the achievements we've made together over the past year, and to introduce new updates that make it easier for you to provide a better driving experience for your users. Watch the Android Auto update at a glance video for more details.

Android Auto is growing and expanding, with more than 150 million vehicles currently compatible with the platform worldwide. More and more vehicles are also compatible with wireless technology, and with the new Motorola MA1 adapter, more drivers now have wireless access to Android Auto. Additionally, our new design for Android Auto provides split-screen functionality for every device screen, centering navigation and media while leaving room to highlight the notification module.

There are also exciting updates to the Android Automotive operating system with Google services built in. As automakers continue to expand and roll out new models, we've also been working on developing more in-park user experiences to take advantage of the larger screens available on multiple AAOS-powered models. From more video streaming apps like Epix Now and Tubi, to future-proof features like browsing and casting, there's a ton of new features to look forward to. At the same time, it's easier than ever to serve users in the car, as we've made it easy to seamlessly integrate large-screen tablet apps into the parking experience.

We know that developing apps for cars is complicated, so we've focused on making Android for Cars easier. Our Car App Library is growing strongly with over 200 apps released to date. In addition to enriching the navigation feature set in version 1.3, we're happy to report that all developers can now publish apps from supported categories directly into production on the Android Auto and Android Automotive operating systems. In addition, we've created new templates and expanded the categories of apps we support, adding driver apps like Lyft to the Navigation category, and replacing the Parking and Charging category with a comprehensive Point of Interest (POI) category to include MochiMochi and Fuelio, among others application.

We've also introduced several new features to help you build richer media apps on Android Auto. Media Recommendations works with the Google Assistant, allowing users to easily discover and quickly play relevant content based on their preferred music provider at the click of a button. To display recommendations from your app, integrate this API .

For long-form content such as podcasts and audiobooks, you can now introduce a progress bar to show the user's progress on the content they've listened to before, and you can now use our new single-item style design API to assign content items individually as lists or networks Instead of sorting them, they can be easily integrated into the same content space.

It's a pleasure to have you with us as we work to create a safer and more seamless automotive connected experience. Watch the Google I/O tech talk video above. Likewise, you can get help in the Stack Overflow developer community through the android-automotive and android-auto tags. We are eagerly looking forward to seeing your next masterpiece and embarking on a new journey with you!
