Arm64 Visual Studio

Visual Studio 2022 17.3 Preview 2 is now available as a native Arm64 application on Windows 11! This will be the first version of Visual Studio to natively support building and debugging Arm64 applications on Arm-based processors. The first preview of Arm64 enables the following Workloads:

• Desktop Development with C++ (for MSBuild-based projects)
• .NET desktop development using both the .NET Framework and modern .NET (Windows Forms and WPF)
• .NET and Web Development

For managed developers , .NET 6 provides native support for Arm64, and this release extends native Arm64 support for the .NET Framework in the form of the .NET Framework 4.8.1 runtime and SDK. You can now build managed desktop applications (Windows Forms and WPF) using .NET 6+ and .NET Framework 4.8.1.

For native developers , with this release, you can get the new native Arm64 MSVC compiler toolset, including C++ code analysis capabilities, while still targeting all platforms currently supported by MSVC.

.NET MAUI performance improvements

Officially released Azure Container Apps

Azure Container Apps is an application-centric service that enables developers to focus on the differentiated business logic of their applications, built on a foundation of powerful open source technologies. About some scenarios it supports:

  The Azure Container Apps and Dapr integration provides developers with an optional set of APIs to simplify application and microservice authoring. Dapr-enabled applications provide distributed tracing out of the box, can integrate with Application Insights, and can take advantage of a growing list of pluggable Dapr components. Individual microservices can scale independently on demand, using any KEDA-supported scaling trigger.
