Recently working from home, I often encounter this blue screen error, which is very annoying:

Often times, a corrupt or missing covpnv64.sys device or kernel-mode driver (even faulty hardware) can cause these "Blue Screen" (BSOD) errors when trying to perform related F5 Networks network access for Windows. These annoying problems can usually be easily solved by replacing the problematic SYS file. Additionally, if the covpnv64.sys error is caused by an outdated or incorrect device driver, we recommend running a driver scan to identify and replace any outdated covpnv64.sys related drivers.

Windows system file formats with the SYS file extension are classified as system files. Covpnv64.sys can be downloaded from the Windows10 official website and is suitable for Windows 10 and almost all Windows operating system versions.

If you have successfully replaced the files in the correct locations, your covpnv64.sys problem should be resolved. We recommend that you do a quick test to confirm this is the case. We recommend reloading F5 Networks Network Access for Windows. to test this problem.

A known bug in F5 VPN

Refer this link: Windows Driver Verifier running causes a crash in VPN Driver covpnv64.sys when you try to establish VPN connection

Current version number:

It will be deleted immediately after clicking.

Nothing newer than this version. Reinstalling doesn't work either.

When Windows Driver Verifier is running on a Windows-based device, attempting to establish a VPN connection using the BIG-IP Edge Client component, interaction with the VPN driver covpnv64.sys results in a Windows stop error/hard crash.

A stop error occurred with Microsoft Windows. This is because Driver Verifier detected an error condition in the Windows driver, in this case the F5 VPN driver covpnv64.sys, which occurs whenever an F5-based VPN connection is initiated. The Windows device must be restarted to restore functionality.

This problem can be prevented by using any of the following suggestions:

-- If you plan to establish a VPN session, do not execute Windows Driver Verifier while running BIG-IP Edge Client or its web browser component.
-- If you plan to run Windows Driver Verifier, do not use the BIG-IP Edge Client or its web browser component to attempt to establish a VPN connection.

Summarize

  • Running Driver Verifier can crash your computer.
  • Driver Verifier should only be run on the computer you use for testing and debugging.
  • Driver Verifier must be in the Administrators group on Windows devices.
  • Windows 10 S editions do not include Driver Verifier.
  • Driver Verifier is not distributed as a separate download package. Therefore, F5 recommends testing driver behavior in Windows 10 instead.
