Azure Toolkit for IntelliJ update

▌ Brand new boot entry experience

In our April blog, we first covered why you need a better onboarding experience. We have found that for a developer new to Azure, the following challenges are often encountered: Steep learning curve: as a beginner to learn many unfamiliar Azure-specific concepts and other tools Scattered and massive documentation: easy to get lost in Some guides and concrete examples are missing from the large number of steps and tasks in the documentation: it is difficult to choose the best way to deploy the service, resulting in additional time costs. Now let's focus on the new onboarding experience and see how to solve the above problems. There are three ways to open this function: Click the icon icon on the toolbar in Azure Explorer, right-click the Azure node, select "Getting started" option in Azure Explorer, and select "Tools > Azure > Getting Started" in the main menu " option

With the help of a new onboarding experience, even if you have no previous experience, you can successfully deploy a sample project to Azure in minutes. During this process, you will gradually become familiar with the basic functions of the Azure Toolkit for IntelliJ plugin and related Azure concepts to improve your productivity as a Java developer on Azure. For the first time after you upgrade or install our latest release, the whole new getting started experience will automatically open.

You can click on any of the sample projects and our plugin will guide you through the entire end-to-end process of deployment. First, you can have a preliminary preview of the full steps (as shown in the image below).

Maven Plugin/Gradle Plugin Update

▌Managed Identity Authentication support

Managed Identity Authentication helps you securely access resources on Azure. You can find more introduction to managing authentication. In our latest release, administrative authentication is already supported on the Maven plugin and Gradle plugin. To use this feature, you can simply configure your system-assigned managed identity (system-assigned managed identity) or user-assigned managed identity (user-assigned managed identity) in the Azure Portal portal. Next, when you deploy your application with the Maven/Gradle plugin, you can use it for authentication services. The following shows how to use system-assigned managed identity when you deploy Azure Functions on a virtual machine.
