Tencent's cloud native cost optimization platform FinOps Crane won the "Cloud Computing Center Technology Award Excellence Award", which is also the first domestic cloud manufacturer. The "Cloud Computing Center Science and Technology Award" is reviewed and filed by the National Science and Technology Award Office (Award No.: 0319), and it is the only national award given in the field of cloud computing center science and technology in the social science and technology award catalogue. It aims to reward green cloud computing centers. The scientific and technological innovation achievements and products applied in China have made important contributions to economic and social development and the national energy conservation and emission reduction cause.

FinOps Industry Alliance

In February 2022, under the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Tencent Cloud, the first domestic cloud cost optimization (FinOps) industry standard ecological alliance was formally established.

With the Finops industry standard ecological alliance as the core, Tencent Cloud Native launched the industry's first cost optimization open source project based on the cloud native de facto standard Kubernetes, Crane ( Cloud Resource Analytics and Economics). Crane follows FinOps standards and aims to provide cloud-native users with a one-stop solution for cloud cost optimization.

The Crane project has gathered many ecological partners to participate. Currently, the main contributors are industry experts from well-known companies such as Tencent, Xiaohongshu, Google, eBay, Microsoft, and Tesla.

In 2022, the Tencent Cloud Native FinOps Crane project team, combined with the development trend of the industry and the industry, will link up with China Industrial Internet Development Alliance, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, China Electronics Energy Conservation Technology Association, FinOps Foundation and many domestic and foreign ecological partners to develop and promote Multi-dimensional achievements such as technical standards, domestic alliances, international open source, and dual-carbon upgrades have been implemented, and a series of white papers and standard guides have been output, aiming to help enterprises and ecology develop more benignly and apply advanced technologies, achieve cost reduction and efficiency increase, energy saving and emission reduction target direction.

What is FinOps?

The idea of FinOps (Financial Operations) is to improve an organization's ability to understand cloud costs and make business trade-offs through a combination of cloud platforms, best practices and culture; bringing together technical, business and financial professionals with a new set of processes to optimize Cloud cost, improve the input-output ratio of cloud business. With the deepening of cloud usage, industry users, cloud manufacturers, and third-party service providers have all begun to pay attention and invest in this track.

The FinOps Industry Standards Working Group was jointly initiated and established by 40 enterprises and institutions under the guidance of the China Industrial Internet Development Alliance. The mental burden in the process of digital transformation of enterprises.
The working group actively conducts research on FinOps technology and industrial practice at home and abroad, and promotes FinOps technology evolution and practical experience accumulation through group standard development, report release, technical seminars, evaluation and certification, and market activities. By promoting the industrialization of FinOps standards and the tracking and evaluation of standard applications, large-scale reuse of technology and experience is achieved. Carry out the collection of excellent application practice cases and products, and jointly promote the application and implementation of FinOps products and concepts in the industry.
