Jingle bell~ Programmer Xiao Chen's phone rang, he just fell asleep and touched out his phone in the dark with sleepy eyes, "Hey... which..."

"The recently upgraded version 2.3.7 has a bug again. Customers are asking, please deal with it as soon as possible!"

"Okay... Now go..."

Working overtime to fix bugs has become a daily routine for Xiao Chen. Check the problem, deal with the fault, restore the service... I guess I didn't have to sleep in the first half of the night. You must be no stranger to this experience as a programmer.

In recent years, the widespread application of cloud-native architecture and the popularity of microservices have greatly improved the convenience of development. Following this, the randomness and untestability of failures in the complex distributed service system have also been greatly improved. On Weibo, you can often see hot searches where major apps have collapsed. According to statistics from the Weibo Public Opinion Field, there were 36 hot searches on Weibo in the first half of this year.

The more complex the system, the more fragile it is. In a complex distributed system, any minor changes may induce a butterfly effect, leading to a large area of system paralysis, and thus causing the enterprise to bear high losses. How can we detect and resolve potential system risks in advance, reduce the probability of failures, and truly realize the resilient architecture on the cloud?

Chaos engineering is just such an emerging technological discipline. Since Netflix released a service called Chaos monkey on Amazon Cloud Technology, which can help engineers quickly understand whether the service they are building is robust and flexible enough, chaos engineering has begun to emerge. At present, many large Internet companies at home and abroad have adopted some form of chaos engineering to improve the reliability of modern architectures. Over the years, Amazon has continued to explore this field, and this year announced the launch of its own chaos engineering service-Amazon FIS (Fault Injection Simulator).

More and more developers are beginning to explore more in this field. On September 15th, Tech Talk will start from the exploration and practice of chaos engineering by Amazon Cloud Technology, and deeply analyze the common difficulties of enterprises in the practice of chaos engineering, and how to implement chaos engineering with the help of Amazon FIS service.

Amazon Cloud Technology's Exploration and Practice in Chaos Engineering

                                        **讲师介绍**

Huang Shuai, senior developer evangelist of Amazon Cloud Technology.

More than ten years of experience in architecture design, operation and team management in the field of software research and development and consulting, and design and optimization of distributed architecture on the cloud, XOps, microservice governance, cloud native operation and maintenance, distributed observability construction and chaos engineering enterprises Practice and other in-depth research and rich case experience. In recent years, in the field of actual chaos engineering, I have been invited by conferences at home and abroad to share experiences and cases of Amazon cloud technology, which aroused resonance. Since 2019, it has promoted the establishment and implementation of the new Amazon Cloud Technology Chaos Engineering Service (FIS: Fault Injection Simulator), which was successfully released in March 2021.
