Topic: CPU Burst: Get rid of unnecessary throttling, while achieving high CPU utilization and high application performance
Sharing time: December 9th, 11:20
Speakers: Cloud technical expert & Ding Tianchen, Alibaba Cloud technical expert
topic introduction: So far, many people's answer to the question of CPU throttling has always been to increase the CPU hard limit or turn off the CPU hard limit. However, this approach brings some new problems, such as potentially unmanageable performance impact, low CPU utilization, and high TCO (total cost of ownership). Recently, the feature of CPU Burst integrated into Linux 5.14 has become a new choice to solve this problem. We will introduce the kernel mechanism that enforces CPU limits, the content of the CPU Burst changes and their impact, and how to evaluate such changes. At the end of this sharing, you can know exactly whether you are using CPU Burst on your pods.
topics: EROFS, we currently doing for the container?
Share time: December 9th, 13:15
Speakers: Gao Xiang, Alibaba Cloud Technical Expert & Ge Xuyang, Alibaba Cloud Senior R&D Engineer
topic introduction: EROFS file system is a Linux read-only file system, which aims to save additional storage space while ensuring end-to-end performance. This file system has been officially upgraded since Linux 4.19. Previously, this file system was mainly used for embedded devices, but we found that there is also an urgent need for a read-only high-performance file system for container use cases. This topic will detail the new features we are developing for this new scenario.

: How does Alibaba discover and locate Kubernetes cluster problems in front of users
Sharing time: December 9th, 12:10
Speaker: Nanguang, Senior R&D Engineer, Alibaba Cloud
Topic Introduction: This sharing will introduce some Alibaba Cloud’s experience and practice of quickly discovering and locating problems in the process of managing large Kubernetes clusters-how to solve the problems encountered by creating a universal link detection + directional detection tool KubeProbe, Respond to the stability challenges of large-scale clusters. Link detection: Simulate generalized user behavior, detect whether the link and process are abnormal: check the abnormal indicators of the cluster to find out the risk points that exist or may exist in the future system enhancement: the efficiency and speed of the problem discovery, and the root cause analysis after the problem is discovered, And chat operation.

Sharing time: December 9th, 14:05
Speakers: Gu Jing, Alibaba Cloud Senior R&D Engineer & Xie Yaoyao, Alibaba Cloud Technical Expert
issues Introduction: greater risk across multiple versions of the upgrade Kuberentes. Many customers choose to use cluster migration (that is, create a new high-version cluster, and then migrate applications from a low-version cluster to a high-version cluster) rather than upgrade the cluster. However, how to migrate clusters with zero downtime has become a major challenge. This sharing proposes a solution to the problem.

Topic: Expanding container runtime operations in
Sharing time: December 10, 13:15
Speakers: Siyu, Alibaba Cloud technical expert, OpenKruise community leader
topic introduction: Normally, people can only use ordinary old data as the smallest unit of operation in Kubernetes. Some companies have hacked Kubelet's code in their clusters so that they can do more with containers. However, extending operations for runtime is indeed a wrong approach because it is not conducive to open source and community cooperation. Now, OpenKruise, one of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation sandbox projects, provides advanced features that can operate container runtimes in each original Kubernetes cluster. In this talk, we will introduce the usage of some functions in OpenKruise and how it works with Kubelet and CRI.
