Microsoft launches Visual Studio Code Server

image.png

We provide developers with an independent "VS Code Server", which is a service built on the same underlying server used by remote extensions, can run on remote development machines, and adds additional features such as interactive CLI, secure connection vscode.dev, etc. Function.
Currently, Microsoft is launching the VS Code Server private preview version. Using VS Code for the Web (vscode.dev), developers can access it securely through a browser without having to set up SSH or https. In this early preview, the code-server CLI is different from the code CLI you use today to launch desktop VS Code, install extensions, and more. In the future, we will work towards a fully unified code CLI that allows you to manage both desktops and servers.

We're pleased to announce that Microsoft has joined the Eclipse Foundation's Jakarta EE and MicroProfile working groups as Enterprise and Enterprise Member, respectively. We are actively improving our support for running Quarkus on Azure, including on emerging platforms like Azure Container Apps. Expanding investments in Jakarta EE and MicroProfile is a natural progression of efforts to enable Java on Azure. Our Java on Azure efforts are fueled by our broad and deep partnerships with key Java ecosystem stakeholders such as Oracle, IBM, Red Hat, and VMware. These strategic partners share our passion for the Jakarta EE and MicroProfile journey that Microsoft has begun. We believe the experience of running Java workloads in the cloud will bring value to the workgroup and look forward to building a great future for Java with our customers, partners and community!
