Trend-chasing by OnePlus: OnePlus follows trends. It's ditching the alert slider for an Apple-like Plus Key and introducing expanded AI features including in translation, photography, screen capture etc.
- AI VoiceScribe: Records and summarizes calls in messaging and video chat apps (India-only for now).
- AI Call Assistant: Similar to Google's Pixel phones, records and summarizes calls (India-only).
- AI Translation: Pulls together text, voice, camera and screen translation into one app globally.
- AI Search: Allows "conversational" search on phone and in OnePlus system apps.
- AI in Camera: AI Reframe suggests different framing options; AI Best Face 2.0 corrects things like closed eyes (rolls out later this summer and can work with group shots up to 20 people and photos from other phones).
- AI Plus Mind: Integrated with Plus Key, captures screen content and saves to AI-curated "Mind Space", can extract useful info like calendar appointments and will add automatic categorization in future.
- Processing approach: Uses a hybrid approach with sensitive data on phone and reaching out to cloud when needed. Details are still vague compared to Samsung's toggle to disable cloud processing.
- Following Samsung: OnePlus will follow Samsung's lead by including Gemini working across apps outside of Google's Pixel phones. Gemini will gain the ability to interact with OnePlus apps like Notes and Clock.
- Device launch: Many new AI features will debut on OnePlus 13s (a variant of OnePlus 13T in China only), launching exclusively in India. Future OP devices will also adopt the Plus Key and existing OnePlus 13 family devices will get an update enabling most of these AI features.
