• Event Details: The first annual Planet Nix event is a two-day, two-track unofficial conference for Nix users, developers, and community members. It will be hosted by Flox and friends in Pasadena, California on March 6th - 7th, the same location as last year's NixCon US and co-located with the outstanding SCALE event.
• Inspiration and Goals: October was the favorite month with energy from Berlin. The event aims to create space for the Nix community to come together, inspired by the “Nix Serenity” in Berlin. It's for all skill levels, with no requirement to be a wizard or a newbie.
• Cost and Sponsorship: The Flox team will cover all costs, removing the need for sponsors. However, those working on Nix products and services are welcome, and they will offer demo space and partnership opportunities.
• Mandatory Karaoke: There will be mandatory karaoke
• Speaker Gifts: rossturk will make speaker gifts (Nix Brix!) like those from NixCon US and Darmstadt, which will be better this time.
• Related Events: NixCon NA is not mentioned to be happening. There are discussions about bringing the official NixCon to more locations or moving it around.
• Registration: Attendees need to get the Scale Pass to access Planet Nix as a free co-located event. There is an additional swag option for a better sense of attendance numbers. There is confusion about whether it's an Expo pass or something else, and the latest information is that everything is continuing as planned.
