New Granite Guardian 3.0 models offer IBM's guardrail capabilities. Mixture-of-Experts models enable efficient inference and low latency. New Granite Time Series model achieved state-of-the-art in zero/few-shot forecasting.
• Company Events and Announcements: At IBM's annual TechXchange event, announced release of most advanced AI models. Granite models are open-source with permissive license. Family includes general purpose, guardrails/safety, and mixture-of-experts models. New 8B and 2B models are "workhorse" for enterprise AI and can be fine-tuned with enterprise data.
• Performance and Benchmarks: On standard academic benchmarks and IBM's AttaQ safety benchmark, Granite 3.0 8B Instruct model leads or performs well. In core enterprise tasks, it shows leading performance. Models trained on over 12 trillion tokens using novel training method. Expected to have extended context window and multi-modal capabilities by year-end.
• Introducing Granite Guardian 3.0: New family of models for implementing safety guardrails. Provide comprehensive risk and harm detection capabilities. Can be used with any AI model.
• Availability: All Granite 3.0 models and updated time series models available on HuggingFace under Apache 2.0 license. Instruct variants available on watsonx platform. Some models available as NVIDIA NIM microservices and through Google Cloud. Curated models on Ollama and Replicate.
• Assistants to Agents: Advancing enterprise AI with technologies like watsonx Orchestrate and pre-built assistants. Unveiled next generation of watsonx Code Assistant powered by Granite code models. Planning to release new tools for AI development via watsonx.ai. Focusing on developing AI agent technologies.
• Expanded AI-powered Delivery Platform: Expanding IBM Consulting Advantage with Granite 3.0 as default model. Introducing for Cloud Transformation and Management and Business Operations. Helps consultants deliver better client value at lower cost.
