Apple App Store EU Changes: Apple has announced major App Store guideline changes in the EU to comply with the Digital Markets Act.
Policy Changes:
- Developers can now promote offers across all channels, include multiple destinations with tracking parameters, etc. and freely design interface for links and promotions.
- Users will see a disclosure sheet when tapping on external links for the first time and have an option to opt out.
Business Terms:
- Initial Acquisition Fee: 2% fee on new user digital goods/serv sale for first 6 months, waived for Small Business Program and existing users.
- Store Services Fee: Split into two tiers - Tier One with 5% fee for limited services and Tier Two with 13% fee (10% for Small Business Program) for all services.
- Core Technology Fee or Commission: EU alternative terms have €0.50 per install fee over 1 million; EU standard terms have 5% commission on in-app alternative payment sales. A unified model will be in place by 2026.
