- Published on: June 6, 2025. A video shows an all-screen computer, the EndBOX, that boots into the retro-inspired EndBASIC environment.
- For whom: For hackers and those who grew up with simpler computers. It can also be used by educators to teach kids programming.
- What's special: A small, portable device with an embedded computer board, a tablet-sized screen, and a slim OS booting into EndBASIC. It offers freedom to connect different input peripherals.
- Hardware: Two prototypes - the standard model with a 7" HDMI touch display, USB ports, and a GPIO port (based on Raspberry Pi 3B+); the micro model with a 128x128 LCD and a micro USB port (based on Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W). Both have Wi-Fi and will support Bluetooth.
- OS: The EndBOX OS, based on NetBSD, quickly boots to a prompt and offers "advanced" features like USB input and Wi-Fi. The EndBASIC shell integrates with NetBSD's console framebuffer and other hardware interfaces.
