Opera 11.10 Details: It's the final version of Opera's flagship desktop browser. Brings speed boost to Turbo mode, new Speed Dial features, and more HTML5 support.
- Download: Available for Mac, Windows, and Linux on the Opera website.
Turbo Mode: Allows faster site download over slow connections. Works by proxying through servers and compressing websites. The latest version compresses more, up to four times faster than previous releases and 15% faster than without Turbo. Takes advantage of Google's WebP image format to shrink photos and graphics. In testing, there were some compression artifacts with larger images, but it still makes Opera faster on slow connections.
Speed Dial: Shows frequently visited site thumbnails. More customizable in Opera 11.10, allowing setting the number of thumbnails. Other browsers have copied it but Opera keeps adding features.
Web Standards Support: Long a leader, the latest release adds partial support for HTML5 File API. But the "partial" support doesn't extend to some website's drag and drop file uploading (like Gmail).
Other Features: Includes automatic updates for plugins like Adobe Flash and some IMAP improvements for the built-in mail client. For a full list, check the full change log.
