Mininova 种子搜索引擎的盈利情况

  • Pirate Bay Trial: Prosecutor claimed the lads behind The Pirate Bay made around 10 million kronor (1 million dollars) a year. Defendant Gottfried Svartholm Warg complained it was absurd and took a shot at the prosecutor.
  • Mininova's Revenue: It is one of the largest BitTorrent search engine sites. In 2006, it earned €600,000 and in 2007, €1,000,000. Operates from a Utrecht office and is legally required to file financial statements with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce annually (available for a fee). In 2007, revenue was €1,037,560, mainly from ads and also includes revenue from Snotr.com, affiliate partnerships, and toolbar offerings.
  • Copyright Infringement: A huge percentage of the.torrent files it hosts infringe copyright. But Mininova claims to comply with takedown requests and has a prominent page on its website providing information on the process. Niek van der Maas said website revenue has nothing to do with copyright infringement.
  • Legal Implications: This claim is debatable. Google could also be said to "profit from piracy" in a similar sense. The real issue for rights holders is whether search engines "cooperate" in taking down infringing content. Mininova does cooperate, which may limit legal action against it. It has the resources to fight if IFPI takes action given its revenue and working capital.
