- Main Point: Microsoft has made the release candidate of Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) available to the general public. It's similar to the release candidate of Windows Vista SP1.
Key Information:
- Previously, it was only for invited testers.
- The Download Center version is about 580MB, and the one via Windows Update is around 70MB.
- The final version will be released in the first half of 2008 and is the final major upgrade of Windows XP (debuted in 2001).
Important Details:
- Microsoft advises not to install on primary or mission-critical systems and to have a data backup before installing pre-release software.
- The service pack can be downloaded here.
